Bio

My name is Karel (he/him). I’ve been working since 2024 as an artist, lecturer, and an ecologies of justice researcher. In 2028, I founded, together with eight colleagues, the ecologies of justice expert centre, DUURZ.

Over the last 17 years, our centre has facilitated many organisations and businesses in the public and private sectors to develop policies, processes, technologies, products, and artefacts to think and work from an ecologies of justice perspective. A focus in which ecological, social and technological sustainability is not only central but also crucial.

The concept of ecologies of justice is now (in 2045) still a challenge. Moreover, in the last decade, we’ve realised with our colleagues at DUURZ that the concepts of ecological, social and technological sustainability are much more complex than we thought in 2028 when we started our work. For sure, since humans have completely engaged in the posthuman era now.

So, there are still many challenges and research questions. Obviously, there’s still much work to do for DUURZ. I’m thrilled to know what speculative thoughts you have to help us in that work.

I’m looking forward to discussing in the FOOTNOTES gathering some issues and problems DUURZ has experienced in the last year in our work with higher art education institutes, universities and university colleges.
