Svetlana Delacroix (°1971, Reykjavik, she/her/they) is a researcher and lecturer specialising in the field of esoteric symbolism and transversal biosemiotics (the study of signs and meaning in living organisms and systems).

Svetlana believes that meaning formation, symbolisation and signs, including their interpretations, are not just tendencies made by humans to make sense of the world. But instead, symbols and meaning are inherently intertwined within the structures of cells and atoms, and all life on earth has the capability of creating meaning. She understands everything through a matter-meaning entanglement, therefore implying that biology (which is concerned with organic matter) is directly connected to linguistics (which is concerned with meaning) or physics is directly relevant to art.

Svetlana is the CEO of The Mimetic Institute of Poly Discursive Flows & Intra Aesthetic Fidelities (or short ‘Poly Flows’), which is an independent institute dedicated to discovering new experimental research methodologies that promote interdisciplinary practises.

Though many don’t believe her, Svetlana claims she can communicate telepathically with animals. She tries not to do it too much, as conversations with nonhuman beings require a lot of energy from her and often leave her feeling sad. Along with the position of the stars and cosmological data alike, she considers the conversations with nonhuman animals as valid research resources. Although she rarely goes outside, she cares a lot about her appearance and is very vain. Svetlana takes life rather slow, and has a very bad memory, but sees this as a strength.
